Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon butter or coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups milk or plant milk
  • 1 pinch salt

Method

  1. Place a skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and let it melt.
  2. Add diced apples, cinnamon, and salt. Stir and cook for 5–6 minutes until apples soften.
  3. Sprinkle in brown sugar. Stir and let it melt into the apples for 1 minute.
  4. Add rolled oats and stir until coated with the apple mixture.
  5. Pour in the milk and bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Lower heat and cook for 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until oats are soft and creamy.
  7. Remove from heat. Let sit for 1 minute before serving.

Notes

  • Use firm apples like Honeycrisp or Fuji for the best texture.
  • If the oats get too thick, add a splash of milk and stir.
  • This recipe reheats well for the next day.
  • For less sweetness, reduce brown sugar to 1 tablespoon.
