High Protein Turkey Taco Skillet

This high protein turkey taco skillet is a fast, one-pan dinner made with seasoned ground turkey, beans, and peppers. It’s filling, bold, and perfect for busy nights, meal prep, or easy ground turkey tacos without the mess.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground turkey 93% lean
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion diced
  • 2 bell peppers diced (any colors)
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¾ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup canned black beans rinsed and drained
  • ¼ cup chicken broth or water
  • 1 lime cut into wedges (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro for topping optional

Method
 

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil.
  2. Add ground turkey. Break it apart and let it brown for 2–3 minutes before stirring.
  3. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook until mostly browned.
  4. Add onion and bell peppers. Cook for 4–5 minutes until soft.
  5. Stir in garlic. Cook for 30 seconds.
  6. Add chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, and oregano. Stir well.
  7. Mix in tomato paste and black beans.
  8. Pour in chicken broth. Stir and lower heat slightly.
  9. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thick and flavorful.
  10. Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve warm with lime and cilantro.
