Sift the matcha. Place 1–2 teaspoons of matcha powder into a small bowl through a fine sifter to prevent clumps.
Whisk with hot water. Add 2–3 tablespoons of hot (not boiling) water. Whisk quickly in a zig-zag or “W” motion until frothy.
Heat and froth the milk. Warm 1 cup of milk in a small pot until hot but not boiling. Froth it with a frother, whisk, or French press.
Combine. Pour the frothed milk into your whisked matcha. Stir gently.
Sweeten. Add honey, maple syrup, or sugar to taste.
Serve. Pour into a mug and enjoy immediately.
