Ingredients

Smoothie
  • 1 ripe banana, sliced and frozen large (140 g)
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk (360 ml)
  • 3 tbsp sacha inchi protein powder (21 g)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp honey (15 g); or maple syrup for a vegan version
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes (75 g)
  • 1 pinch sea salt
Topping
  • 1 tsp roasted sacha inchi seeds, crushed optional

Method

  1. Add the frozen banana, almond milk, sacha inchi protein powder, vanilla extract, honey, and sea salt to the blender.
  2. Blend on high for 45 to 60 seconds until smooth, scraping down the sides once so no powder sticks to the walls.
  3. Add the ice cubes and blend again for 20 to 30 seconds, until thick and slushy.
  4. Check the consistency. If it's too thick, add almond milk 1 tablespoon at a time; if it's too thin, add a few more ice cubes and blend again.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness with a touch more honey if the banana wasn't very ripe.
  6. Pour into two glasses, top with crushed roasted sacha inchi seeds, and serve right away.

Notes

  • Use ripe, spotted banana for natural sweetness so you need less honey.
  • Stick to 3 tablespoons sacha inchi powder per batch, more turns the texture pasty.
  • Serve immediately, this smoothie separates fast once it sits at room temp.
  • Freeze prepped smoothie bags flat so they thaw and blend faster later.
