Method
- Juice your lemons and oranges using a citrus reamer or juicer. Set the juice aside.
- Peel the ginger and turmeric root using the edge of a spoon, then roughly chop both.
- Add the chopped ginger, turmeric, lemon juice, orange juice, black pepper, honey if using, and water to a high-speed blender.
- Blend on high for 60 seconds until the mixture is smooth and the ginger is fully broken down.
- Set a fine-mesh sieve over a large measuring jug or bowl. Pour the blended mixture through in batches, pressing the solids firmly with the back of a spoon to extract all the liquid.
- Strain a second time if you want a cleaner, less fibrous shot.
- Pour the strained liquid into small glass bottles or a sealed jar. You should get about 480 ml / 16 oz total, or 8 shots of 60 ml each.
- Refrigerate immediately. Shake well before each use as turmeric settles to the bottom.
Notes
Fresh turmeric stains cutting boards, hands, and clothing. Work fast and rinse your blender with cold water immediately after pouring.
